Top 5 Movies Where The Title Character Isn’t The Main Character

Top 5 Movies Where The Title Character Isn’t The Main Character

There’s a long tradition in movies of naming a film after a character. Actually, it predates movies. I’m not an expert on the classics but I’m pretty sure King Oedipus is a character in Sophocles’ Oedipus Rex. But usually, the title characters have pretty significant parts in the works after which they are named. When we reviewed Oliver! for Two Drink Cinema we realised that the young orphan Twist is actually a relatively minor part in the movie. He doesn’t do much and stuff just kind of happens around him. So we thought we’d come up with our Top 5 Movies Where The Title Character Isn’t The Main Character.

The Barbie Movie Is Already Doing It’s Job

The Barbie Movie Is Already Doing It’s Job

As we left the Sun Theatre after seeing the Barbie movie on its opening day I turned to Brett and said “I can’t wait for the incels to complain about the depiction of Ken.” I won’t give away spoilers in this movie review because there are far too many moments where...

Home Alone 1 & 2 – Holiday Hilarity and Head Injuries

Home Alone 1 & 2 – Holiday Hilarity and Head Injuries

On the surface, it’s great family fun. A slapstick comedy where a kid sets up fun booby traps to defend his home against two robbers. If you want to keep it in your mind as that fun-filled holiday romp then don’t read further, because the deeper you go the more it starts to lean towards proving Kevin grows up to be Jigsaw, exacting his judgement on sinners.

Coming Attractions – September

Coming Attractions – September

What a month September was meant to be for cinematic releases in Australia. But, like everything in the last two years the September movie releases have been, well, stuffed basically, by Covid-19 and the restrictions that come along with it. If you’re a reader from basically any country other than Australia you can probably head to the cinema and see these films as scheduled. But here in Oz, we had to do a bit of guesswork. Several movies have been rescheduled and a number have been moved onto streaming services. Here’s what we’re looking forward to.
